Design & Technology
Design Technology
Design and Technology helps to develop children’s skills, knowledge and understanding of designing and making functional products. It incorporates many traditional skills such as drawing, cooking, model making, problem solving, observation, discussion and puts them together in an approach which encourages the children to become inventors and designers! At Mitchell Brook Primary School we feel it is vital to nurture creativity and innovation through design, and by exploring the designed and made world in which we all live and work. The Design and Technology National Curriculum is followed in KS1 through to KS2. Three Design and Technology units are covered each school year with lots of opportunities for cross-curricular learning such as the properties of materials in Science, the use of measuring in Maths, Computing and Art.
